College football playoff probabilities after week 10, 2016

By Dr. Ed Feng Leave a Comment

screen-shot-2016-11-09-at-9-14-32-amIt’s a crazy year in college football. It’s early November, and the week 11 slate of games leaves much to be desired.

The top team continue to plow their way towards the playoff, as everyone waits for Michigan to travel to Ohio State in a few weeks for clarity in the Big Ten.

I’ve been doing these projections for three years now, and I don’t remember such a lack of excitement the past two years.

By the way, forgot to post last week’s projections. If you’re a Alabama, Clemson or Louisville fan, check out their story here.

This week, I attempt to hammer home the point that the Big Ten will have a playoff team even though no teams have a top 4 probability. For my full explanation, click here.

Thanks for reading.

College football playoff odds after week 7, 2016

screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-3-44-03-pmOver at Bleacher Report, I wrote about my odds to make the playoff after week 7 of 2016.

Alabama is good. They’re about as close to a lock as you can possibly get half way through the season.

Clemson’s playoff odds drop a bit after almost losing to North Carolina State, although they’re still the ACC favorite.

And does Ohio State have a weakness that Wisconsin showed us? You have to look at the rushing stats.

screen-shot-2016-10-11-at-4-27-11-pmOver at Bleacher Report, I posted my latest odds for each team to make the College Football Playoff.

Washington is most likely for real, Clemson started beating up on inferior competition like they should, and Michigan’s defense dominated Rutgers.

College football playoff odds after week 5, 2016

By Dr. Ed Feng Leave a Comment

screen-shot-2016-10-03-at-4-27-56-pmOver at Bleacher Report, I gave my college football playoff odds based on 10,000 simulations.

This week, Clemson rises with their big win over Louisville. The Tigers got untracked on offense in a big way.

However, Louisville is far from dead. I argue why their 43% chance of making the playoff makes complete sense.

College football playoff odds after week 4, 2016

By Dr. Ed Feng Leave a Comment

screen-shot-2016-09-28-at-9-42-10-amOver at Bleacher Report, I updated my playoff odds again. We intend this piece to be forward looking, and it’s most useful in my evaluation of Louisville and Clemson.

As usual, don’t be fooled by small sample size. Louisville has looked amazing on offense, Clemson not so much, but that could change on Saturday night.

Most weeks, more people read my column on college football playoff odds. However, this week’s column got lost a little bit when Les Miles got fired on Sunday. Not unreasonable.
